| Qube's Social Prescribing Project presented Highly Commended at Awards Bash! Qube's Social Prescribing Community Development Officer, Lou Woolcock had the privilege of heading to the Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Awards ceremony to find out whether the Shropshire Council Integrated Social Prescribing Programme were successful in their nominated Public Health Category. The Integrated Social Prescribing Programme delivers social prescriptions to the public across the county. Qube develops and delivers the community engagement aspect of this programme and has been pivotal in setting up social prescribing in Shropshire. Although the Integrated Social Prescribing Programme didn't win the overall category, it was awarded highly commended, recognising the value and impact it has in the lives of people around Shropshire. | Come along to the launch of our Community Blood Pressure Checks Project! High blood pressure is responsible for one in four premature deaths in the UK and accounts for the largest gap in healthy life expectancy. Health inequities mean that people from marginalized groups or people living in rural areas often go undiagnosed. Qube has joined forces with the local NHS and Shropshire Council to facilitate a blood pressure checking project which aims to address this problem. We're currently recruiting and training volunteers as Community Blood Pressure Champions who will run pop-up events throughout the county, to allow anyone to access blood pressure checking. We're launching the project with a pop-up event in Oswestry at Qube on 15th August (12.30 pm - 4.30 pm). If you would like to find out more, contact Jo Longetti, Blood Pressure Champion Coordinator at Qube. Call 01691 656882 or email j.longetti@qube-oca.org.uk

| Social Group Summer Celebration Our social groups are having a short break for the next few weeks, so Qube's Wellbeing and Befriending Co-ordinators, Bella and Carol decided to bring both groups together to throw a summer celebration! With music and singing from John the music man and our very own housekeeper, Cassy. The group enjoyed a good old boogie with friends and then caught up over a cuppa and cake. It's safe to say they had an absolute blast!

Qube and Dial-a-Ride support Oswestry in Bloom This year, Dial a Ride has had the pleasure of providing transport for the judging of the prestigious Britain in Bloom competition and the Heart of England in Bloom judging recently. Judging took place around the town centre, viewing the displays that have been tended to by volunteers, along with visits to Aico, Cambrian Heritage Railway, Lloyd Street Allotments and Woodside School. Oswestry are only one in ten towns in the whole of the UK representing the large town category within Britain in Bloom which is a huge achievement! It's so great to see the community of Oswestry come together in support of the Oswestry in Bloom project and we wish them all the luck with this year's awards. |
