I discovered a treasure trove of original Ruyton Postcards at Mummas Emporium in Pride Hill…'Shrewsburys best
kept secret'. There is an old bureaux upstairs with a pile of these 12 different views of Old Ruyton.
All 1950's. They are only 50p each and all money goes to their mental health charity. Some cards are hand
coloured as well. The emporium has a wonderful cafe upstairs…well worth a visit!

Over the years I have collected copies of dozens of postcards of Ruyton XI Towns produced by the old Post Office at the Cross, the village shop in Church Street and Waterstones stationers in Shrewsbury. Perhaps these were to record the unusual name of the village, to publicise the wonderful display of damson blossom on the Brownhill or just because it was possible to send a postcard from Ruyton to a friend in Baschurch to say you were coming for tea that afternoon - that was how good the postal service was in earlier times.
Anyway, this is a great source of those old postcards and would make a lovely framed display.
