Road closures and bus times in Ruyton XI Towns - some information at last!

Thanks to Steve Boulding who contacted Robert Jones, Shropshire Council`s representative for Baschurch and Ruyton Parish Councils, who seems to have sorted out the Tanat Valley bus times, and he wrote this to Steve.

"I have just written to Tanat Valley and will chase up with officers tomorrow to establish if and why the operator was not properly advised. I am particularly angry about this as I had specifically sought assurances beforehand that there would be proper communication with the operator around these road closures". 

"In the meantime, Tanat Valley have posted an update on Facebook (which I have shared) as follows:

Service 576 - Ruyton XI Towns: Road Closure Notice 

Platt Bridge will be closed on Monday, 30 March and Tuesday, 31 March 2026. During this time, Service 576 will stop at The Cross in Ruyton, then return to the A5 and turn left at Shottaton Junction, continuing to the Admiral Duncan in Baschurch. 

Due to the extra time needed for the diversion, the 10:05 and 17:05 Shrewsbury-Baschurch services will not run. We are sorry for the short notice and any inconvenience this may cause".

"Regarding works in May, I was not aware of any works scheduled for May, but it is possible the dates were a kind of temporary placeholder for a contractor considering different dates to carry out work.

"To be aware, Severn Trent Water have plans to carry out works to upgrade the water main along Church St at some time this year, and Shropshire Council are awaiting details about that work in order to set a date to carry out planned resurfacing works along the same stetch of road once Severn Trent have completed their works. I have asked STW for an update on this and I am still awaiting a response". 

Unfortunately this does not make clear what the plans are for Church Street Closure,

Is it 7th to 10th to prepare for changing the Zebra crossing to a Puffin Crossing?

Or 7th to 17th to prepare and change from a Zebra to a Puffin Crossing?

I hope this is of some help,  I will of course pass on any further information if and when I get it.
