GETTING RID OF INVASIVE HIMALAYAN BALSAM
I have looked at a few websites. The Wildlife Trust and the RHS has information about the invasive plant as well. This one, as per the BBC, with a bunch of volunteers like us, provides all the information.
We can eliminate it by pulling it up before it seeds. It is an annual. We may have to revisit the site next year. It would be good to replant or at least put down seeds of native wildflowers too. Landlife Wildflower charity have some recommendations. They suggest plugs as well as seeds. I have bought some recommended seeds for 30 sq. Metres if we can make that much of an inroad into the balsam.
If people would like to come along to pull Himalayan Balsam on Friday 29/5 and Saturday 30/5 afternoon they could contact me on my email address. It will require thick clothing and gloves due to nettles.
Regards,
Wendy
