Dear Blogger
RIP LYNN EVANS
My apologies to Margaret Lycett who found all this information some time ago about the late Lynn Evans, including details about her funeral on 27th August. I am sorry I did not send out the information on time.
I think it is important that we remember people who have given their time and energy for the good of the village, especially when Lynn and her husband were not natives or even long established members of the community.
Lynn and her husband Peter moved to Castle View in Church Street in July 1996 and threw themselves into most activities in the village.
They enjoyed many holidays at home and abroad together but sadly, Peter died in November 2021, since when Lynn has continued to support and enjoy most village activities and did so right up until a couple of weeks before she died.
She was a Committee Member of the Garden Club for many years and could always be relied upon to help with teas and raffle. She never missed a Coffee Morning and often hosted one.
She was a valued member for many years of Ruyton XI Towns Women`s Institute (as it used to be called) and was a member of the WI Book Club
Lynn was a founder and committee member of the Local History Society which was founded over 20 years ago.
In recent years she never missed a Creaky Chairs Keep Fit Class on a Thursday afternoon in Baschurch and she regularly joined friends in Cafe Eleven for lunch or coffee.
As a keen gardener, Lynn could often be seen tending her roses in her front garden at Castle View and enjoying a chat with passers by.
Lynn and Peter retired to Ruyton and then made a huge contribution to the village.
We will miss her.
