RATS Panto quick review

Quick Review from Colin Case - there will be a more considered critic (in the nicest possible way) tomorrow.

The First Night of Puss in Boots was a huge success last night - well done to the Team - it is a massive job to put on such a super show.
I understand it followed the script pretty well - a major achievement in itself!
However, there was one unscheduled "disrobing" - now rumoured to be fixed.
You will have to go and see it to see if the fix was successful!

Well done again to the cast and the admin and technical team - a brilliant job for such a small community.

I'll write a better review when I have seen it tonight.
Don't forget you can park in the School Car Park.

"Off the Beaten Track" & Shropshire Way extension

Message from Luke Neal, Shropshire Meres & Mosses.

A nice article covering the Shropshire way extension in the North – partly funded by the Landscape Partnership.

http://www.ramblers.org.uk/walk-magazine/current-issue/2013/november/winter-2013/walking-the-shropshire-way.aspx

Also possibly of interest: this Friday ITV is broadcasting at 8pm a Shropshire episode of 'Off The Beaten Track' presented by Christine Bleakley.  More details here – includes Whittington Castle in a piece filmed earlier this year.

You might also like to know that Mark Jones says this edition of  "Off thee beaten track" features views from the Cliffe -  over the very area there is a planning application for a Waste Transfer Station at Startlewood Farm!!           Yoland

Planning Application

Message from Mark Jones, The Cliffe.

Please can you publicise the planning application for a waste transfer station at Startlewood farm, its on the edge of our parish but only a stone`s throw from me & might be of interest to anyone who walks the Cliffe;

Adviceon on  this Planning Application from Colin Case.

The application is for "change of use" so that an area of Startlewood Farm can become a waste transfer station, receiving, sorting mixed waste and despatching it for recycling or whatever.
There are LOADS of objections on the Planning Web Site, including the local Parish Council.
I think I will add it to our Parish Council agenda for Monday so that we all now what is going on - though we might conclude that we have no comment since it is not within our Parish.
I enclose a map from the web site documentation showing where it is.

MESSAGE FROM A CONCERNED WEST FELTON PARISHIONER

Subject: Planning Application

Hi Colleen,

I have been made aware that the Balfours planning application is unexpectedly being heard by the planning committee next Tuesday. I am worried that people are unaware of this and will miss out putting their views forward either for or against the development. I wondered if you wouldn't mind sending the message below around the West Felton mailing list?

Kind regardsJohn Houghton

BALFOURS PLANNING APPLICATION 13/01221/OUT

FOR 35 NEW HOUSES ON TEDSMORE FIELD IN WEST FELTON

The Shropshire Planning Authority, having at this stage failed to meet the 5 year land target for building,

apparently, have no option but to recommend that this application be approved.

This application is likely to be forced through regardless of the local people’s desire for ‘Open Countryside Status’

and before the findings of the ongoing Parish Plan can even be published.

This application is going before the North Area Planning Committee at Shirehall in Shrewsbury on

Tuesday the 10th December between 2pm and 4pm.

If you have any comments or concerns this is the last opportunity for West Felton residents to be heard.

A strong turnout could affect any planning decision.

If you cannot attend the meeting but would like to express your opinion please email Owen Paterson on his website www.owenpaterson.org

and Steve Charmley on Steve.Charmley@shropshire.gov.uk

PLEASE VOICE YOUR OPINION REGARDING 13/01221/OUT

BEFORE THE DECISION IS MADE FOR YOU!

Christmas in Oswestry

Message from Lynn & Sue at the Mile End Tourist Information Centre - you should call in one day and see how much they can do for local people as well as passing tourists.

Santa is on his way!
There are lots of events where you can go and see the great man or to visit Christmas Fairs to support local organisations  . I have attached a copy of our events list for your information, there have been one or two new entries since the last one. I have also attached the 2014 one for your information.

We still have lots of lovely crafts on sale if you are looking for locally produced gifts.  We also have a good range of books that would be ideal gifts.

Can we please ask that you let us know if you are open over Christmas and if so what vacancies you may have?

As we are part of Shropshire Council we will be following their policy of closing all council buildings between Christmas and New Year.  We are open until Lunch time on Christmas Eve and then we reopen on 2nd January 2014.  We intend to place the” After Hours Board”  in the window during the closure so your vacancies will still be available to anyone who turns up without a reservation.

All the staff at Mile End wish you a happy Christmas and thank you for your continuing support.

 Regards

Sue, Ann, Lynn, Sian, Carol, Abi and Sharon
