Dear Blogger,

Message from Attfield Theatre, Oswestry.

Tickets are now available for

'Allo'Allo

We launch our 2023/24 season with the hilarious 'ALLO 'ALLO. This play, directed by Michaela Turner, runs from 2nd – 7th October 2023 and promises to be a hilarious week of evening performances.

Based on the hugely successful British television series written by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft, this uproarious comedy tells the tale of café owner, René, during WW2 in war torn France.  Full of hilarious characters, a priceless painting hidden in a sausage, communications via a cockatoo, and a few decoy Hitlers...

* Please note this production contains a short sequence of Strobe Lighting.

Tickets for 'Allo 'Allo are now available and can be purchased by clicking the link below.

New addition to the film rota

A Private Function (15)

A host of well-known British faces - plus a pig! - star in the latest addition to the Oswestry Film Society, as we start October with the British comedy classic A Private Function. Satire to slapstick as local bigwigs plan to rear a pig against post-war 1947 food rationing rules for a royal wedding party. But they don't bargain for it being stolen by the town's looked-down-upon chiropodist (Michael Palin), egged on by his domineering wife (Dame Maggie Smith) who's ambitious to move up in local society.

Updated Oswestry Film Society schedule

  • Tues Sep 5: THE PRINCESS BRIDE (PG) - cult classic
  • Tues Sep 19: BURIED (15) - starring Ryan Reynolds
  • Tues Oct 3: A PRIVATE FUNCTION (15)

All hosted by Oswestry's Kinokulture cinema. OFS films start at 7.30pm prompt (no trailers, ads etc). Tickets via oswestryfilmsociety.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=935586b8ff8831a36fb56c9fe&id=ff462e055c&e=995a5cadfa

Dear Blogger,

Message from Booka Bookshop, Oswestry.

Booka Bookshop Presents...

9th November 2023 at Chester Storyhouse, Hunter Street, Chester, CH1 2AR

Spend an evening with BBC Gardeners' World Presenter and the nation's favourite gardener, Monty Don, as he shares stories from his career and talks about his genre defining new book - The Gardening Book.

Prepare for a Monty has been making television programmes for over 30 years and has been lead presenter of the BBC's Gardeners' World since 2003. Since 2011 the programme has come from his own garden, Longmeadow, in Herefordshire.

The Gardening Book is a no-nonsense, practical and accessible guide to the fundamentals of gardening.

Think of your garden like a meal. When you select a recipe, you're choosing it based on inclination, experience and circumstance. Making a garden, big or small, uses exactly the same process. Monty Don is on a mission- to show everyone how joyful gardening can be. Starting with two important questions – what do you want from your garden? And how can it best serve your needs?

Monty's new book is a revolutionary new guide to the basics. Whether you want to grow your own veg or plant the perfect herbaceous border, gardening to create a relaxing oasis or to connect more with nature, The Gardening Book shows you what to plant, where and when to plant it, and how to plant it. It will arm you with the knowledge and confidence to make any garden bloom. The Gardening Book is Monty's most practical and accessible book to date, created to answer the most popular gardening questions Monty has received over the years. A new standard bearer for gardening, this is the essential book for a new generation of gardeners.

Don't miss the opportunity to join Monty Don for a timely and thought-provoking celebration of gardening, challenging the norms, sharing practical advice, and answering your gardening conundrums.
