Halloween is not a British festival so if any children come roaring round your street, make sure they know if you do not approve of this American introduction: turn off all the lights round the front and back doors, pull the curtains and put up a sign like the one in tonight`s Shropshire Star which announces
"Sorry, no trick or treat thank yooooo"!
The last child who came trick or treating at my door was presented with a cabbage - much healthier than sweets - and that was about 30 years ago.
Almost as strange as Haloween is the Mexican
DAY OF THE DEAD FESTIVAL AT MARKET HALL
Pat Jones, from Beyond the Purple Door, is creating a special mural to mark the occasion. People can get involved by drawing on a giant chalkboard to create the ‘mural wall of the dead’ on November 2 and 3, between 10am and 4pm. There will also be the opportunity to toast lost loved ones with a drink as well as a chance to purchase some Mexican and Mexican inspired artwork.
The Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos, traditionally takes place on November 1 in connection with the Catholic holidays of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day (November 2).
The festival is growing in popularity and is now celebrated all over the world. It focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for, and remember, loved ones who have died.
There a lot of British soldiers who have died in present and past wars
who we can think of on this day
