Os Lit Fest Launch with Rachel Joyce Join the 2012 Man Booker long-listed author, Rachel Joyce, for the official launch of the 4th Oswestry Festival of the Word at The Walls Restaurant on Wednesday 16th January (6pm). Rachel Joyce is an established writer in radio and has written over 20 original plays for Radio 4. Her debut novel The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry is a tender, comic and very British coming of (old) age story. It was Long-listed for the Man Booker Prize 2012 and is published in paperback in January 2013. Rachel won the New Writer of the Year in the Specsavers National Book Awards 2012. Please book in advance - for tickets, call in at the shop, give us a call or send us an email. | | Ann Cleeves - Dead Water Join award winning crime writer Ann Cleeves for a Shetland themed night of crime on Wednesday 27th February (7pm) as she talks about her new book, Dead Water – the latest in her Shetland series of crime novels. Ann is the author behind ITV’s VERA and BBC One’s SHETLAND. She has written over twenty-five novels, and is the creator of detectives Vera Stanhope and Jimmy Perez – characters loved both on screen and in print. Her books have now sold over 1 million copies worldwide. In 2006 Ann was awarded the Duncan Lawrie Dagger (CWA Gold Dagger) for Best Crime Novel, for Raven Black, the first book in her Shetland series. In 2012 she was inducted into the CWA Crime Thriller Awards Hall of Fame. Tickets £TBC | | Booka News Os Lit Fest Launch As a Festival Partner, we've been working hard with the Festival Team over the last few months to put together a fantastic programme of events for the 4th Oswestry Festival of the Word - aka Os Lit Fest. We're really excited about the Launch event that is taking place on Wednesday January 16th when Rachel Joyce will be appearing at The Walls Restaurant and the full programme of events is announced. The Festival of the Word takes place over ten performance-packed days from Saturday 9th – Tuesday 19th March 2013. From being named as one of the 50 Best Bookshops in the Country by the Independent, to the size of the queue for the Julia Donaldson book signing, to some great events with the likes of Peter James, Kate Morton, Tony Robinson and Mark Forsyth and our 3rd Birthday Crime Night, to continuing to work closely with schools, the Library and the Lit Fest team, 2012 has been a memorable year. We are so grateful for the support of our customers which makes what we do all worthwhile - so we end 2012 with a big, big thank you from us.
