Digging and Growing with the National Garden Scheme
Kitchen Gardens
One of the most fruitful times in the garden is upon us, as fruit and veg growers across the land will be (hopefully) reaping the rewards of a bumper harvest. Growing your own produce is something we highly recommend here at the National Garden Scheme, and it can be as easy as a window box full of fresh herbs.

If you're looking for inspiration, or just an interesting day out, we've put together a list of some of the Kitchen Gardens opening for us over the next month. From beautiful potagers reminiscent of French chateaus to brilliantly British orchards and community allotments, we've got lots for you to go and see, just click the button below to find one!

All Gardens Great & Small
Have you seen the first two episodes of All Gardens Great & Small? We're delighted that the wonderful Dee Hart Dyke, former National Garden Scheme volunteer, has been busy visiting our gardens across the country for her brilliant television programme. Narrated by her daughter Miranda Hart the show is both hilarious and horticultural – it doesn't get much better than that!

The last episode airs on Monday at 9pm on More4 and you can catch up using Channel 4's on-demand service. For more information about the programme, click the button below.

Our Work with the National Autistic Society

Marie Curie are one of our long-standing beneficiaries and this year we donated £500,000 to the charity. As part of our work with Marie Curie and our wider beneficiary group we have been looking at the importance of gardens and gardening for health and well-being. This led to our inaugural Gardens & Health week in August which you can read more about here.

One part of the amazing work Marie Curie does is the Marie Curie Helper Service which offers those living with a terminal illness regular support at home from a trained volunteer. Marie Curie have shared a lovely blog about Jean and Eileen who met through this service, and developed a wonderful friendship through a shared love of gardening!
