Message from Dave Saunders, Ruyton XI Towns Local History Society.
Dear Members and Friends
The first public speaker meeting of the Ruyton Local History Society for 2018 will take place at 7.30pm on Wednesday 14 February at the Victoria Room Ruyton. The first part of the evening will comprise an illustrated talk about 19 th century Oswestry and will be given by the Society's Publicity Officer, Alan Smith. Our Annual General Meeting will be held immediately after Alan has given his talk and will be followed by refreshments once I have spoken briefly to you about the 2018 programme.
May I remind you that, in accordance with the Society's Constitution, only members who have paid or will on 14 February be paying their annual membership subscriptions are entitled to vote on resolutions put to the vote at the Annual General Meeting of the Society.
The annual individual membership subscription will remain at £10 for 2018 and individual non members will continue to be asked to pay £2.50 for each meeting attended.
The Society depends on membership subscriptions and the proceeds of the raffles which are held at meetings to help fund ongoing expenditure. I very much hope that if you have not already done so you will if a regular member rejoin or, if intending to join the Society for the first time, join us, by paying your subscription on 14 February.
The Management Committee of the Society has planned an exciting programme of talks and other events for 2018. I very much hope you will participate in as many of them as possible in order to derive maximum benefit from you membership and to meet other members of the Society.
I speak for myself and on behalf of the other members of the Management Committee when I say that we welcome your ongoing interest in and commitment to the Society in its tenth year and very much look forward to seeing you on 14 February and at future meetings and other events if you are able to join us.
