A new book by Local Author

A new book of short stories by local author, Wendy Lowdon, is now available at Cafe Eleven and Flowerscape.

My book, Here and There, consists of 19 short stories half of which are set in Australia and the other half in Great Britain.  The stories are quirky closeups of characters experiencing uncomfortable situations which results in unusual outcomes. The environment and dialogue is representative of the land in which the stories are set. They include stories about moving a grand piano, picking up a ghost, dealing with rubbish, having a meltdown in an aeroplane and living next to pylons.  Some of the stories begin with black and white photographs.

I have been writing these and other stories for quite a while.  Once I had the idea for this particular collection I chose the best and most suitable stories.  They were vetted by local authors Bernard Pearson, Ron Turner and Vicky Turrell, put through the wringer by a copy editor and then published by local publishing co-operative Leaf by Leaf Press. They are well polished, entertaining and the hyper-critical son says they are 'pretty good' especially the one called 'Shoes.'
