Oswestry Library August events

Message from Siobhan at Oswestry Library.

Please find below, a list of library events currently booked in August, for inclusion in your parish magazine or newsletter.

 

ADULT


Tue 7 August – Learning at Lunchtime: The Care System and the Law; Advice on the key issues. 12:30-1:30pm
A free talk from FBC Manby Solicitors, aimed at raising awareness in the community about important legal issues surrounding the care system.

 

Tue 14 August – OSMakes Paper Flower Workshop 10-2pm
Join the OSMakes group for a free drop-in craft session, suitable for all ages. Come and make colourful flowers out of paper! All materials provided.

 

Thu 16 August – Willow Flowers and Fish Craft Session 10-12noon
Join Cathy Preston from 'More than Willow' for a willow craft session for all the family. £15 for an adult & up to two children, additional children £3 each.

 

Tuesday 28 August – Care for Carers 1-2pm

Join Lise McNamara from 'McNamara Focus' for a bitesized workshop at the library, on strategies for revitalisation and self-care, especially for those who care for others either professionally or in their personal lives. Take a moment to look after yourself! £5 per head

 


CHILDREN

Chess Club—every Wednesday at 1-3pm

Come along to play chess at the library! Every Wed over the summer from 25 July. No experience required, tutor on hand to help you get started.

 

Wed 1 August— Mario Kart Gaming 10-12 noon

2 hours of competitive Mario Kart 8 Racing at the library, delivered by Idyll Games! Recommended for ages 7+. £5 per child, pre-booking essential.

 

Thur 2 August— First Aid drop in session 3-4pm

Join Jason Amyes from St John's Ambulance and learn skills to save a life! Suitable for the whole family. (Free)

 

Sat 4 August— Dungeons & Dragons 9.30-12noon

The classic adventure fantasy game! Join our professional Dungeon Master for an adventure like no other, no screens required!  Suitable for children under 16, no experience necessary. £5 per child, pre-booking essential. Book with the Shropshire Dungeon Master direct on 07454797995 (bookings are not taken at the library)

 

Mon 6th August—Mischief Crafts 11-12noon

Free craft session at the library! Free drop in– no booking required

 

Tue 7 August— Wild West Lego Workshop 2-3.30pm

Rob Spinks from 'Bricks & Tricks' is coming to deliver an exciting hour and a half of Lego madness with a Wild West flavour. Suitable for children over 5. £3 per child, pre-booking essential.

Thu 16 August— Tiny Terrors Party Games  2-3pm

An hour of crazy party games at the library, including a Dennis the Menace Beanbag tournament, balancing, bubble blowing and more. Suitable for children 3-7 years old. Free, pre-booking essential

An hour of crazy party games for older children at the library, including a Dennis the Menace Beanbag tournament, balloon walking, a sock war, and more. Suitable for children 7-11 years old. Free, pre-booking essential

 

Thu 23 August— First Aid drop in session 3-4pm
