Learning at Lunchtime: The Care System and the Law, advice on the key issues
Tuesday 7 August 2018 - 12:30-1:30pm

A free talk delivered by FCB Manby Bowdler Solicitors, aimed at raising awareness in the community about important legal issues surrounding the care system.

What are the rules relating to care assessments? What care is available and who pays for it? How are your assets assessed, and what assets can be taken into account? What if you want to give assets away? Who decides when you can't make decisions? Who makes decisions for you if you can't make them? 

Powers of attorney; the different types, how they work, why are they important, and what happens if you don't have a power of attorney?

Free event - donations invited for refreshments on the day. Please book your place.


Lise McNamara

Caring for carers: A workshop with Lise McNamara
Tuesday 28 August 1-2 pm

This bite-sized workshop aims to share techniques to support your well-being. This way you are in a stronger position to focus on those you are caring for.

Lise McNamara has a 30-year background as an Occupational Therapist, 20 of those as a Consultant in psychosocial, well-being, ergonomics and working environment. 3 years ago, she became an accredited Kinesiologist practitioner and teacher of Kinesiology.

OSMakes Drop-In Workshop
Tuesday 14 August 2018 - 10-2pm

OSMakes are meeting at the library again for a creative drop-in workshop, this time creating colourful flowers out of paper! All materials are provided and any ages are welcome.

Flowers and Fish! A willowcraft workshop
Thursday 16 August 10-12noon

Try something different this summer! A family workshop, weaving willow and other bendy materials to make remembrance flowers or fun willow fish. A great way for all ages to learn simple weaving techniques.

Big Summer Read - for Adults and Teens!

Adults and teens can join in with the Summer Reading Challenge fun by completing the Big Summer Read! Simply pick up an entry form at the library and read four books of your choice, filling in the mini reviews and star ratings for each book. When complete, hand in your entry form at the library before the end of the summer to be in with a chance of winning some fabulous prizes, including a Samsung Galaxy Tablet!
