But times are tough and her books aren't flying off the shelves like they used to. When she stumbles on a letter written by silver screen star Fanny Brice, she embellishes it with her own writing and sells it on in a desperate plea to try and pay the bills. It gives her bank balance and ego a much-needed boost, and she realises how lucrative this newfound money-making ploy could be… Lee recruits her friend Jack (Richard E. Grant) into her scheme, determined to turn it into a fully-fledged career. A Pakistani salesman, employed by Nestle, one of the world's largest corporations, learns that his promotion of baby formula to doctors is causing babies to die. He risks everything to make it stop, taking on the industry with the help of Cambridge-based Baby Milk Action. A BBC Films/UK Film Council version of the film was halted weeks before production; with defamation laws operating as 'guilty until proven innocent' the huge potential costs of defending a true story in court meant that a transnational company could prevent a true story being told simply by virtue of its deep pockets. A few years later Indian producers Prashita Chaudhary and Guneet Monga finally made the film possible. With a breakthrough performance from Bollywood favourite Emraan Hashmi and a cast including Danny Huston, Geetanjali Thapa, Khalid Abdalla, Maryam d'Abo and Satyadeep Misra, TIGERS was shot in the Indian Punjab and London. Michael Fabiano stars as Faust, with Diana Damrau as his beloved Marguerite and Erwin Schrott as the diabolical Méphistophélès. Virtuoso leading roles, a large chorus, sensational sets, ballet and an ecstatic finale make this the epitome of theatrical spectacle – the lavish scale of French grand opera is wonderfully in evidence in this production by David McVicar, set in 1870s Paris. Above all, the music includes several of popular opera's most recognizable numbers, performed by a cast of great international singers and the Royal Opera Chorus.           Music: Charles-François Gounod Director: David McVicar Conductor: Dan Ettinger Starring: Michael Fabiano (Faust), Erwin Schrott (Méphistophélès), Diana Damrau (Marguerite) | | With our new lease comes a new midweek season of films 'BEACON' running throughout the year and shining a light on the wonderfully diverse range of stories, characters and cultures brought to the screen from international and British film-makers including preview screenings, special events and Q&A's.     Tickets for our May screenings will be on sale soon.
