Coming events at Oswestry Library in August.
Oswestry Family & Local History Group

Oswestry Family and Local History volunteers run a twice-weekly advice service at Oswestry Library. Teams of trained, knowledgeable volunteers work alongside library staff to help both newcomers and experienced researchers to get the most from the expanded range of resources available. No booking required, just drop in.
One on One computer help at the library!
Did you know that we have a team of volunteers who provide one on one IT support for customers at the library? They will sit with you, either using your own device or one of our library computers, and help you to work through whatever issue it is you're having, be it setting up an email address, or learning to navigate your first smartphone. The support is completely free, but MUST be pre-booked as volunteers are available by appointment only. At present, bookable sessions are available each week on a Tuesday morning, Wednesday all day, and Friday morning. Ask staff to book your place.
Hearing Aid Clinic
Wednesday 7 Aug 10-12noon
Hearing aid clinic run by NHS trained volunteers. Drop in to have your hearing aid cleaned and serviced. No booking required.
Chess Club
Every Wednesday 1-3pm until 28 August
Come along and play chess! All ages and abilities welcome, help will be on hand.
Lego Club
Thursday 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 August, 3.30-4.30pm
Saturday 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 August 11-2pm
Free drop in session to play with Lego in the library! Self-guided activity, parental supervision required.

Learning at Lunchtime: Leading a Healthy Life
Thursday 1 August 12.30-1.30pm
A Learning at Lunchtime talk with Carol Harris. Thoughts on nutrition, exercise, sleep, dealing with stress, managing time, keeping your mind active, complementary medicine and research on gut health. ú3 per person, please book with library staff.
Rhymetime at the library!

Writing Surgery with Dave Andrews

Friends of Oswestry Library: Coffee Morning!

Have you a few hours a month to join the committee of Friends of Oswestry Library? Friends of Oswestry Library (FOOLS!) are a community group who work to protect and promote the library. They manage donations, support staff in promotion activities and could research possible areas of funding to support the library service in Oswestry. If you think you may be interested in offering your time to support your library, please come along for an informal chat with the existing members of the group to find out about how you can help.
Summer Reading Challenge Event: Dogs Trust Storytime

Knit for Life is a local knitting charity supporting direct aid distributions of knitting to many countries around the world. We mostly make blanket squares, hats and toys and sew together squares to make blankets.
