Baschurch Station, re-opening campaigne

Message from Steve Boulding, Baschurch.

BASCHURCH STATION RE-OPENING CAMPAIGNE

SAVE THE DATE : FRIDAY 15th JULY   7pm

PUBLIC MEETING AT THE CORBET SCHOOL, EYTON LANE, BASCHURCH.

EXPECTED SPEAKERS:

HELEN MORGAN MP

PROFESSOR JOHN WHITELEGG

and representatives from Railfuture and

Friends of the Earth

This is our best chance in forty years of campaigning to persuade Shropshire Council to adopt the re-opening of Baschurch Station as a priority. It is also probably our last chance, as housing development must leave space for access and car park. The developers are being very helpful so far, but Shropshire must enable it to happen in the right way.

We estimate at least 10,000 people within the catchment area - Baschurch, Ruyton, Myddle, Weston, Bomere, etc., will have rail access to Shrewsbury, Wrexham, Chester, Merseyside, Manchester, Telford, Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Hereford, Cardiff and London, with attractive journey times and none of the hassle of driving.

Although not likely on this line for maybe another ten to twelve years, the intention is that more than 90% of the railway will be electrified as part of drastic CO2 reduction, and this will mean even faster, longer and quieter trains in due course.

Come along and help us send a message to Shirehall that this MUST HAPPEN - NO MORE DELAYS !!

Further updates nearer the time.
