A new scam, warning from West Mercia Chief Constable

Message from David Spicer, Chairman of Ruyton Parish Council

Earlier this evening I attended by zoom the SALC AGM.

The speaker was Pippa Mills, the Chief Constable of West Mercia.

During the meeting it became clear that a current scam being perpetrated across Shropshire and about which people should be made aware, especially the elderly or vulnerable, is:

The telephone caller purports to be calling about a government scheme to take money from (elderly) people to contribute to possible future residential care costs and then starts to propose ways to avoid this and ensure future costs are met......

The caller has a British accent.

Kind regards

David
