News from Whittington Music Festival
…and preparations for this year's Festival are hotting up, so act now and renew your Friends' subscription to be eligible for all its benefits. | | | Grants We are delighted to have received donations and grants from several local charities and businesses. Here are two trustees, Pam Parish our administrator and Ursula Neil our fundraiser, receiving an outsize cheque from the Rotary Club of Oswestry. | | | Festival Musicians A vibrant and highly individual pianist and composer, Zoe Rahman's broad musical palette is rooted in jazz yet it reflects her classical background and her British/Bengali heritage. Known for her powerful technique, wide ranging imagination and exuberant performance she has become a highly sought-after musician. Winning many awards, Zoe has established herself as a unique presence in the British music industry as a frequently featured artist on TV and radio and at many international jazz festivals. She won an Ivor Novello impact award in 2022 for her support of female musicians throughout her career. Her 'Colour of Sound' disc won 'Album of the Year' in the UK Parliamentary Jazz Awards 2024. | | | Car Parking The Castle have outsourced the carpark to a company operating number plate recognition. Parking now costs £2 for 24 hours and concessions for Festival Pass holders are no longer available. So be sure that you pay at the machine (by card) or in the Castle shop/tearoom. Several people were fined £100 at our November fundraising concert as they had not seen the notices in the dark. There is free parking near the Three Trees shop, and if you have a meal or a drink at either of the village pubs, the Boote and the White Lion, you will be able to leave your car there during the concert. | | | | |
