The Longest Yarn, a really unique exhibition please read about it

Dear Blogger

THE LONGEST YARN exhibition at St. Giles Church, Wrexham 5th to 29th October

Highly recommended by Andrew & Anne Collier, a great outing for a school or club

What will I see?

The exhibition takes visitors on a journey through six years that changed Britain.

Across its 80 knitted and crocheted scenes you will encounter stories of evacuation, rationing, the Blitz, the Home Guard, the Women’s Land Army, D-Day and VE Day, alongside the everyday experiences of those who lived, worked, waited and hoped through the war years.

Look closely. The extraordinary detail is part of the experience.

Tiny household objects, clothing, buildings, vehicles and individual characters have all been painstakingly recreated in yarn. Behind them are hundreds of makers who have used their skill and creativity to help tell these stories to a new generation.

This is not simply an exhibition about war. It is about people: their courage and ingenuity, their separation and loss, their humour and resilience, and ultimately their hope for peace.
