Bike hire - Shrewsbury Market

Message from Suzi Wilkinson, Market Hall Promotions

WHEELS IN MOTION FOR NEW BIKE HIRE SERVICE AT

SHREWSBURY MARKET HALL

A Shrewsbury market trader has set the wheels in motion for a new bike hire service which will officially launch next week.

Urban Bikes UK, run by Phil Roe, will be offering rental cycles from just £14 per half day hire (up to 3 hours) and £20 for a full day (up to 7 hours).

All hires include route maps and wet weather ponchos. Helmets are available to rent at a charge of £1 per person.

The Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Jon Tandy, will officially launch the service, which is predominantly aimed at tourists, at the Market Hall next Friday [APRIL 4] at 11am.

Urban Bikes UK is also currently working with Shropshire Tourism to develop a cycle tour of Shrewsbury sights, as well as a ‘foodie’ tour to coincide with this year’s Shrewsbury Food Festival.

Phil said: “In the two years we have been at the Market Hall we have received enquiries about bike hire, so it seemed obvious that we could offer this service from a central location. We hope to work with local hotels, B&B's and other venues so they can offer this service to their customers.”

For more information, or to book, call 07828 638132, email urbanbikesuk@gmail.com or visit the website at www.urbanbikesuk.co.uk

Help needed - Butterfly survey

Dear All,

We are carrying out habitat work between Ellesmere and Whixall Moss with the aim of expanding a very small population of the Small Pearl Bordered Fritillary butterfly.

In order to know if we have been successful over the next few years we need people who live in and explore the area who could identify it should it turn up a certain sites.

As a result we are organising some training and surveying this year and next year and are looking for volunteers to be involved.

Friday 23rd May – Training and visit to Llanymynech (the small pearl bordered fritillary flies earlier in the year here so we hope to see some)

June – Survey dates will be based on a night before weather report, the survey group will be kept informed as to most likely dates and then on standby for confirmation.

If you are interested in getting involved please get in touch so I can add your name to the mailing list. Please also make clear whether you can attend the Llanymynech visit on Friday 23rd May.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give,

FOUND - mobile phone

Last Wednesday we found a mobile phone outside the front of our drive,
no idea how long it had been there but it was muddy and the glass was
smashed, possibly run over by a car. Roger was unable to contact the
owner and there was only one phone call which we were unable to answer.

The phone was an old Samsung.

SHED - FOR FREE!

Message from Sue & Steve Boulding.

SHED for FREE  2.9m x 6.2m

It is in reasonable condition and far too good to throw away, though the roof (flat but sloped) would need re-felting, and would adapt to being an animal shelter.  It was previously used as a cattery and has optional caged runs added at the front.

The person who wants it would need to dismantle and remove it. We're happy for anyone to contact us to inspect it beforehand, so could you print the email address.

We're near Baschurch.
