A chance to meet Mary Cunnah,  a local artist whose exhibition

                                            “BOUNTIFUL INHERITANCE”

is on show until the beginning of November in the Borderland Visual Artists gallery at Oswestry Library.

Meet the artist   11am-1pm  Wednesday 30 October   Free drop-in event  Oswestry Library

"Bountiful Inheritance" concerns the settlement of Sycharth which was the home of Welsh Prince Owain Glyndwr in the C14th depicted in oil paint, etchings and collagraphs by local artist Mary Cunnah."

The works on display are part of an exhibition entitled  "Bountiful Inheritance" and refers to the settlement of Sycharth in the Cynllaith Valley which Owain Glyndwr inherited on the death of his father. In the 14th century the whole valley was like a Garden of Eden. Thanks to the famous travelling Welsh poet Iolo Gogh we know great details about the fortified  house, settlement and the surrounding area. However in 1403 Prince Hal destroyed it all by fire and now little remains of that fabulous estate but the mound and bailey in the middle of a field.
