Oswestry Bonfire night & Fireworks

PRESS RELEASE

ANNUAL BONFIRE AND FIREWORKS

25th Anniversary

The Oswestry Annual Bonfire and Fireworks Display will take place on

Saturday, 2nd November at 7.00 p.m. at Brogyntyn Park, Oswestry.

This highly popular evening organised by Oswestry Town Council and the Treble Niners is now into its second decade and has raised over £40,000 for local good causes.  This year additional fireworks have been purchased and it promises to be the most spectacular display in memory as this year marks the 25th anniversary of the Bonfire evening.  Leader of the Treble Niners, Mike Wilkinson, said “I hope that as many people as possible will come to Brogyntyn Park and enjoy this community event.  The atmosphere is always most enjoyable and by bringing the community together, then we help fundraise for our local good causes and those less fortunate than ourselves.”

Town Mayor, Councillor Mr Chris Scholfield said “the Town Council has been proud to be a partner of the Treble Niners.  Mike Wilkinson and the personnel of Oswestry Fire Station and their family and friends work so hard on this evening to provide the local community with such an enjoyable evening.  We are most grateful to them for the Fire and Rescue Service that they provide and also for extras such as this that mean such a lot to so many people.”

This year Oswestry Borderland Rotary Club and the firefighters have teamed up to arrange a Lantern Parade through the town starting from Festival Square at 6.30. The procession will wind its way along Church Street and up Willow Street to Brogyntyn Park.

Further information is available from Oswestry Town Council.  Mike Wilkinson can be contacted on 07815 639408 for photographs.
