Dog Fouling is disgusting and a HEALTH RISK

Message from Sue Hackett, Ruyton XI Towns Parish Clerk.

Be part of the community and REPORT THE OFFENDING DOG OWNERS.

The Parish Clerk is very concerned about the high incidence of dog fouling in the parish.

DOG FOULING; DOG OWNERS PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOG

Dog mess is not only very unpleasant to step in, it can also carry harmful infections, the most widely known being toxocariasis. Infection can last between six and 24 months, and lead to blindness. Let's avoid this..

Dog owners are required by law to clean up after their dog; failure to do so can result in a fixed penalty notice being issued or possible prosecution.

Dog waste should be disposed of in the appropriate manner, either by using our dog or litter bins or by taking it home and disposing of it in your black refuse bin.

It is utterly unacceptable to find it in our Green Spaces or in our lanes and pavements!  RIVER FIELD at PLATT BRIDGE  and DOCTOR`S MEADOW are particularly used as dog toilet areas!

There can be no excuses – bins have been provided and both Dog Poo bins and normal litter bins can be used, the Parish Council has a Zero Tolerance Community approach to this problem and would encourage that those spotting offenders (the owners and not the dogs) REPORT THE PROBLEM.

How to Report a Dog Fouling Incident to Shropshire Council:

Telephone 0345 678 9006. If it is a persistent problem, please provide as much information as possible, such as at what time the incidents are occurring, a description of the dog walker and dog, and where the fouling has occurred.

Via the web go to www.shropshire.gov.uk ; Search "Dog Fouling" and you can complete an online form.

If you believe more Dog Poo bins are needed in the Parish please discuss it with your local parish councillor and we will see what can be done.

Best Regards
