SHROPSHIRE FOOTPATHS – TREVOR ALLISON HAS WALKED THEM ALL Shropshire Star Monday 27th March 2015
After he retired from teaching at Packwood Trevor Allison, always a keen walker, took it upon himself to check out and make sure all the footpaths in the Eleven Towns area are fully accessible and not ploughed over or overgrown.
Then 4 Years ago Trevor took on the mammoth job of walking every footpath in the county of Shropshire – and, perhaps more amazingly, all done without the use of a motor car but just using public transport, to get to the walks and then home again to Ruyton after each one was completed.
Trevor finished his walking marathon on Friday, completing the last mile at the Tally Ho Inn at Bouldon near Craven Arms where he was met by a welcoming crowd of supporters.
"I have only finished the first part of my task", said Trevor, "I now have to validate and analyse my data". Interestingly, Trevor has found 1,000 of the 19,000 sections of rights of way unusable for one reason or another.
Thanks Trevor, you have done a great job and it
will be fascinating to read the final report.
