Also, see attached poster - please pass this information on to anyone you know who might be interested.

Maintenance Technician, Shrewsbury
PGL Travel - Shrewsbury SY4
£7.38 an hour - Contract

PGL is synonymous with learning outside the classroom in a framework of fun, safety and achievement. We've been giving young people the adventure of a lifetime since 1957 and now operate at 22 outdoor activity centres across the UK, France and Spain. Our staff are integral in contributing towards the life-changing experiences of our guests. Being part of the PGL staff team is challenging, but also rewarding, exhilarating, extremely memorable and, above all else, fun!

We are currently seeking to appoint a Maintenance Technician at Boreatton Park, our activity centre in the Shropshire countryside.

Boreatton Park activity centre is set in 250 acres of adventure paradise in the beautiful Shropshire countryside. The centre's focal 'Calendar House' was built over 150 years ago and has an historical legacy to complement the strides PGL has made in breaking new ground in the outdoor industry at Boreatton Park, in terms of the range of activities available, for almost 40 years.

As a Maintenance Technician you will have a crucial role to ensure our centres run like clockwork and that the non-activity side of our guests' stay exceeds their expectations. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be involved in some of the essential support services at the centre, including aesthetic appearance, general upkeep and cleanliness. All Maintenance Technicians receive full training in relevant Health and Safety aspects, but it is essential that you possess a trade background.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring high levels of general upkeep and routine maintenance of the centre facilities to include grounds and buildings;
  • Ensuring company safe systems of work are employed and procedures relating to Health and Safety are followed at all times;
  • Reacting and manage emergency situations in relation to Maintenance of grounds and facilities i.e. boiler breakdowns, power outage etc.;
  • Assisting with centre specific duties associated with a residential children's activity centre.
  • Driving license and horticultural/agricultural experience and/or qualifications is desirable.

Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently is required due to the nature of the job.

We offer a competitive wage of £7.38 per hour, as well as meals during work hours. 42 hours over 5 days, including some weekends. Access to training and development opportunities and a free staff uniform. Accommodation is available onsite, if required.

The role is offered on a 12 month fixed term contact starting January 2017.

Successful applicants are required to undergo an enhanced DBS disclosure, which PGL will pay for. You need to possess the legal right to live and work in the UK to be considered for employment with PGL. PGL is committed to the principles of equality and diversity and welcome applicants from all sectors of the community.
