Human Rights Tour Coming to Oswestry

FRESh (Fairness, Respect, Equality in Shropshire) and the British Institute of Human Rights (BIHR) are working with Oswestry Welcomes Refugees and other local organisations to host a Human Rights event in Oswestry. The event is part of the BIHR Human Rights nationwide tour and is being held on Thursday 9th March, at The Centre, Oak Street, Oswestry

The all-day event will focus on Human Rights in rural areas. It is free to attend for all or part of the day. There is a complimentary buffet lunch (suitable for vegetarians with GF options).

Talks on Human Rights Law by BIHR's expert speakers, plus open discussion and debates about this most important of issues - arguably under greater threat than at any time since WWII - promises to make for an engaging, enlightening and informative event.

This event will be useful and valuable to business professionals, HR and line managers, as well as anyone with a developing people management remit. It will assist professionals and volunteers working with vulnerable groups, migrant workers and others whose beliefs, colour, creed, gender, sexual orientation or philosophies put their human rights at risk.

The event is open to all, but you will need to register your free space in advance. You can do so here:

This event is sponsored by The Jools Payne Partnership and Shropshire Council's Oswestry Community Action team in partnership with FRESh.

There is good access and facilities at the venue for less able bodied delegates, with limited dedicated disabled parking spaces immediately adjacent to the entrance. Signing for the deaf is available upon request in advance. Low cost long stay parking is right next to the venue at Oak Street car park.

Book Your Space
The issue of Human Rights is incredibly relevant today, in the world at large and right here in Shropshire. So come along to learn more, voice your support, and help raise awareness. The event is running from 9:30 to 15:30.
