Willow Gallery Oswestry coming music & arts events

Dear Blogger

Message from the Willow Gallery, Willow Street, Oswestry.

We thank you for your support in 2019
and extend our best wishes for the year ahead.
At the gallery we look forward to another year-long programme of exhibitions, live music and other events. Also see below our schedule of workshops and courses over the coming months.
Saturday 18 January
A Demonstration of Batik with Jenny O'Leary
11am-1pm   Free event
Batik is a technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to fabric, reaching its greatest development in Indonesia. Hot liquid wax is used to prevent dye from penetrating the cloth, leaving 'blank' areas that can then be filled with colours; batik on paper uses the same techniques and tools. Textile artist Jenny will be demonstrating trees in batik to link with her course in March (see below).
Examples of Jenny's craft

While Jenny's particular specialism is batik on tissue paper as well as fabric , she also does wonderful things with machine embroidery, felting and appliquÚ - creating wall art, soft furnishings, bags, scarves and jewellery, all with a modern twist. As well as her regular classes at the Willow, Jenny also teaches at Craven Arms' Westhope College.

INVITATION TO ENTER WORK
Many art works explore the interaction between words and images, and preparations are now underway for this year's PAINTING WITH WORDS EXHIBITION, running from 14 March to 2 May and inspired by text in all its many forms.

If you would like further details or application advice, please contact us at willowgalleryoswestry@gmail.com.
