Evacuees came to Ruyton XI Towns in 1939

Dear Blogger

EVACUEES - in Ruyton XI Towns and elsewhere

On 31st August 1939 operation Pied Piper was a plan to evacuate children and mothers with children under 5 to a place of safety in the country.  Many children arrived at Baschurch Station to be billeted in homes in Ruyton XI Towns and Baschurchy.

Some information and memories were collected in 1995 and at the Village Home Front Exhibition in 2005 but now Irena White has used her edtensive knowledge of the internet to dig out  a lot more information about that time, over 80 years ago.

Please see attached documents and personal stories will be entered on www.eleventowns.uk/history.html - as soon as I can.

There is already loads of local history information on the website which people might find interesting.
