Safeguarding children

Message from David Spicer, Chairman of Ruyton XI Towns Parish Council.

There have been two recent initiatives designed to inform parents and engage with all residents to contribute to ensuring our children are safer.

Neither is likely to have any impact without parents and relatives being made aware of their existence.

The first is by the government and is concerned with protecting children from sexual abuse. A website has been created and can be accessed at the following link.

The first page has information and options opened by clicking.

                            Stop Abuse Together

Child sexual abuse is a reality for thousands of children across our country, with at least one in ten estimated to experience sexual abuse before they turn 16.

But we can all play a part in protecting children and getting them the right help. That's why it's important to know how to spot the potential signs of child sexual abuse and where to go for support. This website brings together advice and resources to help you keep the children in your life safe.

The second is a call to action by the Shropshire Safeguarding Community Partnership, the successor multiagency body to both the Local Safeguarding Children Board and Local Safeguarding Adults Board.

Residents are urged to "play their part to help keep our children free from neglect".

Residents urged to play their part to help

keep our children free from neglect

Shropshire residents are being urged to play their part in helping keep children                 safe and free from neglect.

The call to action from Shropshire's Safeguarding Community Partnership follows the impact the pandemic

has had, and continues to have, on some families, and wants to highlight and encourage them and the wider

community to seek help and advice to support them.
