IMPORTANT message about road closure in Baschurch

Dear Blogger,

Message from Trevor Allison - many thanks to Trevor for find out this information

ROAD CLOSURE IN BASCHURCH

Just in case you have not realised, what is officially Ruyton Road past the new houses being built in Baschurch is scheduled to be closed COMPLETELY from Tuesday 1st August until the 13th (or earlier if the work is completed) for the installation of a sewer connection to what has already been installed in Church Road, Baschurch. The 'village' route past the Church should be available but NOT to H. G. V.s etc.

To accommodate the Shrewsbury – Baschurch – Ruyton – Oswestry bus service, it is being split into 2 shuttles, the ordinary bus from Shrewsbury to Baschurch and return, and a smaller bus which should be able to use the 'village' route at Baschurch from Oswestry to Baschurch and return. This should, in theory, maintain the through service with a change of bus at the Admiral Duncan in Baschurch. It will mean that some services will run a little later than now, and I will forward more information over the weekend. I intend to attach a 'flyer' to the main bus stops when I am confident that the basic details are fixed; it has taken a lot of work by our Parish Clerk and myself to get this far! Nevertheless, I can envisage problems with traffic using Church Road and Nobold in Baschurch to get round the closure, so people should use that route sparingly or it might be closed completely.

Once this work is finished then the resurfacing through Ruyton can go ahead, but that is weekdays only between 09.30 and 16.00 supposedly. Obviously, it will NOT be possible to use the B4397 from the A5 to Baschurch during the daytime. We are attempting to find out in which direction the work will be carried out so that the bus service can be adjusted accordingly and people can be informed which way to access properties etc. Sorry the information is so sketchy but getting Shropshire Council to provide details is harder than getting blood out of a stone!
