GERALD LINDNER, of Powis House, Church Street died peacefully in hospital on 29th December.
It is always so sad when someone who has lived in the village for many years and contributed to the good of the community, has left us. This piece about their father has been sent by Christopher and Judy.
Gerald Lindner moved to Ruyton XI Towns with his family in 1972, in order to work at Rolls Royce in Shrewsbury.
He was born in Birmingham in 1929. After leaving school, he completed his national service and then an engineering apprenticeship. He travelled extensively for work, visiting over 90 countries .
He was involved in the community, playing the organ at several local churches as well as singing in local choral groups. He was a member of Oswestry Golf Club and Pengwern Boat Club in Shrewsbury. He was also an avid rugby fan and a season ticket holder at Moseley Rugby Club, where he played in his younger days.
Funeral Service will be held in Shrewsbury at Emstrey Crematorium, London Road, Shrewsbury SY2 6PS on January 25, 2024 at 3.30pm.
Gerald`s wife Pat died several years ago, she was a founder member of the Cliffe Garden Club.
