Dear Blogger,
Message Kinokulture, Oswestry`s Independent cinema
Welcome to this special edition of our newsletter The past few weeks have been a flurry of activity here at kinokulture HQ with some exciting news from our Steering Group and the programming team have been busily planning the February film programme and our screenings for Borderlines Film Festival coming up in March. Please scroll down for more details. | | A NEW CHAPTER FOR KINOKULTURE CINEMA | | | We were very pleased to hear last week that our Steering Group have formally agreed to move forward with plans to ensure the continuation of kinokulture cinema. After 14 years Ian and I will be stepping back from the day to day running of the cinema at the end of March but there is much to be done and from April we will both continue to work alongside the Steering Group and our wonderful volunteers for a 6 month period to support with training, future planning and help ease the transition to community ownership. We have already been working closely with our new programming team to develop their knowledge and understanding of film exhibition and have been training two of our volunteers in projection. The Steering Group are currently working on renewing the lease on 9 Arthur Street and will be looking to recruit a Duty Manager to run the venue. This is a very exciting new phase for our much loved cinema and will hopefully enable it to grow and develop into a vital community space continuing to offer a range of films and event cinema on the big screen and much much more! "We are so excited for the future of Kinokulture. There is still an enormous amount to do, but we have a passionate and committed team dedicated to working together to achieve a smooth transition of management" said Martin Anderson (a member of the Steering Group). We have a fantastic selection of films coming up over the next few weeks and throughout February & March and we hope you will continue to support us as we move into the next chapter!
