Please note, this production is not suitable for very young children. | | | | Veronica's Room Play Casting - 7:30pm Thursday 19th December 2024 This chilling mystery thriller by the author of Rosemary's Baby explores the thin line between fantasy and reality, madness and murder. Crusty Horatio Tucker, sponsor of TV's most popular soap, receives a mysterious note saying the clue to his killer will be found in the next episode. He invites the cast to his place and forces them to act out the episode. Soon there's murder and chaos! There will be wine and nibbles and laughs aplenty! It's a good chance to socialise and meet other Attfield members. Please contact Michaela at michaela.a.turner@btinternet.com if you have any questions. | | | To Die For! Well done to the entire cast and crew for such a fantastic production: Natural Causes! It's been a whirlwind week, with plenty of positive feedback from entertained audiences. If you'd like to read about what our NODA representative, Andy Brown, thought of the production, click on the link here. | | A huge congratulations to Christine Hughes! Chris is the President of the Attfield Theatre and has been a member for fifty years! What an incredible achievement. Learning about how the theatre changed during that time was an absolute joy. From fighting with the bridge players for space to introducing coffee during the interval! Christine's contributions to the Attfield Theatre are recognised and valued by all members from her unwavering support to her sound advice. Thank you Christine for all you have done and will continue to do. | | | | It's Panto Time! Oh yes, it is! The 2024 Panto in the Park production of Cinderella was an absolute hit! The added twist of unique characters, including a Pot Noodle and a lively array of animals, brought an extra layer of fun and originality to the classic tale. The audience, especially the children, were so engaged, and the good weather certainly helped make the event even more enjoyable. | | | To begin at the beginning….. The Company started life in 1928 when the head of the then Oswestry Girls High School, Miss L. Mickleburgh, called a public meeting at the school for all those interested in the arts especially the young people of the town. At this meeting a committee was formed, calling itself, The Oswestry and District Arts Club It began with play readings in a room in Bremen House and later moved to a house in Willow Street where it stayed for two or three years. The Arts Club presented plays in the Victoria Rooms. One of the first was 'The Farmer's Wife' performed in March 1930. Many of the cast were original members of the committee. The 'vicar' on right hand side is G.W.Attfield – name ring a bell? We do have an older photograph in the archive but no information – any ideas? Incidentally, if you go to the back of the Parish Church near the door, you will find plaques to various people who have made a contribution to the town and there you will find Miss Mickleburgh who started it all.
