Whittington's Wonderful Musicians
Photo: Rob Burton
If you attended the Family Concert last year you will remember the sublime saxophone playing of Rob Burton. We're delighted that Rob will be back again in 2025, playing in several festival concerts and giving a woodwind masterclass for local young musicians. We're not the only ones to love Rob's playing. He's listed in Classic FM's Rising Stars 2024 as one of 30 young musicians "reshaping classical music".
Having won the Woodwind Category Final of BBC Young Musician 2018, Rob is the first ever saxophonist to be accepted onto the prestigious Advanced Diploma degree at the Royal Academy of Music. Rob is grateful for the support of the LSO Conservatoire Scholarships programme, a ground-breaking initiative helping exceptional musicians to study at the world's leading conservatoires. You can read more about the scheme and Rob here; www.lso.co.uk/bio/rob-burton/

Fun fact; in addition to his musical achievements, Rob is also a talented visual artist. He spent time studying at the Barcelona Academy of Art and appeared on Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year, where he was shortlisted for the semi-final. You can see his work at https://www.robburtonsax.co.uk/art-gallery
