Short notice but a great idea

Incredible Edible                                               Press Release         20 February 2013

Invitation to a Public Meeting on 4 March at 7pm

An initiative to encourage local food growing is newly underway in Shropshire, under the banner of 'Incredible Edible'. Promoting and growing food can encourage individuals and communities to improve diet through eating fresh healthy local food, offer opportunities to increase physical exercise, meet and work with others and learn new skills. This can result in improved open spaces and wildlife areas, a reduction in food miles and carbon footprints and have a positive impact on wider social and environmental issues.

Local communities across the County are being encouraged and supported to develop their own projects and a group of interested people would like to do just that in Oswestry. ‘Oswestry Incredible Edible' projects could encompass a wide range of possibilities - establishing community gardens, encouraging home-growing in the smallest of spaces, using public areas for food production and so on.

A public meeting, to which all interested parties are welcome, has been organised on 4 March at the Cornerstones Baptist Church, Lower Brook Street, Oswestry, starting at 7pm. We will show a short film demonstrating what has been achieved elsewhere, followed by discussion of what might be possible in and around Oswestry.

It's all about FOOD...if you eat, you're in! For further information, contact 01691 658298.
