13/04881/FUL - Dog Kennels at Platt Mill Farm

Message from Colin regarding the planning application for Dog Kennels at Platt Mill Farm.

Judging from the volume of emails I have received regarding this Planning Application it is clear that it is generating considerable interest.

The property in question is in the Parish of Baschurch. The Application will be considered by Baschurch Parish Council at the next meeting - 6th January 2014 starting at 7:30pm in Baschurch Village Hall. It is item 7)c) on the published Agenda.

However, it is on the Western Boundary of the Parish and could therefore be considered as having a potential influence on Parishioners in the Ruyton XI Towns Parish Council area. It will therefore be considered by Ruyton XI Towns Parish Council at our next meeting on 13th January 2014, starting at 7:30 in the Memorial Hall. The agenda is yet to be published for this meeting.

As always, both Parish Council meetings are open to the Press and Public - people from either Parish will be made welcome at either Parish Council Meeting.

There is always a Public Question Time on the Agenda for both Council Meetings and any member of the Public is welcome to have their say on this or any other item on the Agenda. The only thing we ask is that any comments or questions are not just repeats of other people's comments - Parish Council Meetings often take around two hours as it is!

It should also be noted that Parish Councils are consultees. The final decision rests with the Principle Planning Authority - obviously Shropshire Council in this case. However, the decision-maker normally attributes weight to Parish Council comments - so long as the comments are based on "material planning matters" of course.

The formal date for Public Comment on this application has passed - however, Shropshire Council are always keen to base their decisions on the widest input possible, so will consider comments received after the date for formal comment - so long as they are received before the date that they actually make the decision. Sometimes the Planning Portal will continue to accept comment after the formal date, but even if not, comments received by post or email will normally still be considered.

It is important to make sure that Shropshire Council are aware of your views directly - it is not enough to email your Parish Councillor, or indeed, your Shropshire Council Member - though doing this AS WELL will do no harm.

Hope this helps everyone understand how the Planning System works a bit.
