Site work in the Meres & Mosses

Message from Luke Neal.

Wednesday 8th January – Marl Allotment one of my favourites, Home to Creeping Willow, Otter, Badger, Toad, frog and new find Harvest mouse!

10am- 3pm: moving wood piles to edge of meadow to encourage new meadow growth in the spring.

Meet at Marl Allotment, Roundthorn Bridge on Shropshire union canal, turning off Platt lane, Welsh end, Whixall. (grid ref: SJ 501358)

Appropriate outdoor clothing required and packed lunch. Tea and Coffee provided

Wednesday 15th January – Prees Heath Common, Home to the Silver Studded Blue butterfly with the intriguing lifecycle link to ants!

10.30am. Bramble clearance. Meet on the access track opposite the Steel Heath turning off the A49. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Children must be accompanied by an adult

 Sunday 19th January – Colemere, SSSI, Home of the Least Water Lily, Otters and Grebe.

10.30am – 3pm: Clearing Rhododendron in Yell Wood to allow natural regeneration of woodland understory.

Meet in the Carpark.

Appropriate outdoor clothing required and packed lunch. Tea and Coffee provided

We intend to have a fire on-site, this often results in sparks which leaves small melted holes in fleece material, you have ben warned!
