Ruyton Century Club

Message from Colin Case.

As many villagers will know, there is a Century Club run for the benefit of Village Hall Funds.
It is pretty simple - there are 100 numbers, each costing £1 per month, but collected yearly - so £12 per number - making a total income of £1,200 per year.
Each month a set of winning numbers is drawn, with cash prizes of £25, then £10 and lastly £5
This works for January to November.
In December, 5 numbers are drawn with prizes of £100, £25, £20, £10 and £5
This all adds up to £600 in prize money per year, leaving £600 to help fund our Village Halls.

For umpteen years Dot Williams has run the Club - always managing to maintain the full 100 members.
So first of all, a HUGE thank you to Dot and indeed, the "helpers" who collect some of the money each year.

After many years Dot has retired and as Secretary of the Village Hall Committee I have taken up the reins.

Of course it will be run pretty much as before, except that the Draw will be in the last week of each month and will take place in either the Extend Exercise Class on a Thursday morning or in the Broadplace on the Friday. It is important that the draw is made in public. I will publish the results via Yoland's email system, since we no longer have a Newsletter. All the more reason for everyone to be on Yoland's Distribution List.

With lots of help, I have so far collected from about 35 of the 100 customers.
Can I ask that any of the other 65 who want to stay in make arrangements to pay the money to me (or Dot if you see her first) - either in Cash or a cheque payable to "The Century Club"
In the meantime I will try and contact everyone who hasn't paid to collect their money.

Since I have left it rather late to really start collecting, I will assume that all current customers will want to keep their number for the January Draw due next week. Any winners can pay for the year out of their winnings! (unless they have already told me that they don't want to stay "in")

All numbers are currently "sold" (based on this assumption) but it is possible that some may drop out. So I am happy to run a "waiting list" for new members - just let me know by email or phone etc.

So - best of luck to all "number owners" - and remember - "You have to be in it to win it!"
