Derwen College - Village Newsletter Information

The spring term has begun with the usual enthusiasm and excitement. The students working in the commercial areas are engaged in a wide variety of diverse and challenging activities.

The Garden Café has had a refurbishment which complements the introduction last year of a new children's play area.

As a result of the success of the Christmas hamper range Students in Young's Farm shop are busy producing a selection of Valentines, Mother's Day and Easter hampers on sale from £15.00. Chutneys, jams, cakes and fresh bread made in the college's Food Production Centre continue to be available for sale in the shop.

The theme in The Gallery this term is "Around the World" and is evident in the range of hand-made gifts, greetings cards and jewellery.

Ruby Slipper, the fancy dress hire service, has hundreds of fun costumes for all occasions.

Students in The Print Centre are following a demanding programme of activities including screen printing bags with bespoke designs, T-shirts, mugs and posters. There is also the facility for custom-made frames to display artwork, photos, embroideries or souvenirs.

The Garden Centre is preparing for spring bedding and the new season Gisela Graham giftware range. There is also a super selection of plants, tools and books to supply all gardening requirements. The Walled Garden provides the perfect location for students to grow specialist vegetables, salads and herbs.

All commercial enterprise areas are open daily from 9.30 with a variety of food available in the Orangery Restaurant, Garden Café and Tiffins coffee shop.
