SARAH BARNWELL QUARTET
Harnessing violin, guitars and double bass to spellbinding effect
Saturday February 18, Concert start time: 8pm

No stranger to town, Sarah celebrates the violin in all its variations, delighting audiences at home as well as overseas. Sarah will be performing alongside acoustic guitarist Will Barnes, stunning jazz guitarist Andy Mackenzie and double bass extraordinaire Erika Lyons – making up one of the most exciting and original quartets currently on the scene.
   The concert starts at 8pm, but early arrivals can take the opportunity to have a look around the Gallery and enjoy the current exhibition. Evening meals are also available at the Willow Eatery (pre-booking essential), and the bar is open all evening.

CHRIS QUINN

Back at the Willow by popular demand, the Shrewsbury-based acoustic guitar virtuoso has gained a great deal of acclaim internationally and will present a varied and exciting repertoire ranging from evocative, old-school British and Irish folk to American roots – with many original compositions along the way.
   Chris's own debut solo album, Across the Divide, has received overwhelming praise, gaining him ever more fans both here and abroad – so now is a very good time to come and see him play live.

THE FORGOTTEN TALES
The stories that built the British Isles – fun for all ages
Friday 7th April, 8pm

Fast-paced, high-energy production performed by Parable Arts founder Jon Buckeridge who single-handedly brings some of Britain's most magical myths, legends and folk tales back to life, in a combination of storytelling, poetic verse and live music. Hilarious, heroic, heartbreaking, this is an evening of unique entertainment guaranteed to engage and enchant in equal measure.

Dance craze from way back and now enjoying a great revival…
 Fun, friendly, invigorating classes for people of all ages, a fabulous way to have fun, meet new people and get fit. No partner required; all levels welcome. This    should be on your must-do list!
     Classes run on Monday evenings at the Willow Gallery's Dunbabin Room. Sessions begin at 7.30pm and cost just £3 per class.

LEARN TO PLAY FOLK MUSIC IN A RELAXED AND FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE
Folk Fiddle, Flute & Mandolin
Tunes taught by ear – no need to read music

Tuesday 25th April - 13th June 2017
Beginners Plus 5.30pm - 6.30, Improvers 6.45 - 7.45pm, Advanced 8 - 9pm
    You will need your own instrument – fiddle, flute, whistle or mandolin. Beginners Class does require a basic knowledge of how to play your instrument; Improvers require a good knowledge, and Advanced is for students who have progressed through Improvers.
   The Beginners Plus class requires a basic knowledge of how to play the instrument, the Improvers requires a good knowledge and the Advanced class is for students who have progressed from Improvers.  You will need your own instrument – fiddle, flute, whistle or mandolin.
Cost:  £50 for 7 weeks (half term 30th May)

PAINTING WITH WORDS - Exhibition Live Music
Art inspired by literature
March 4 – April 15
      Many visual artists draw inspiration from other artistic forms, and this Spring at the Willow we will be presenting our first exhibition of artworks inspired by the written word. These will include a variety of media and styles, with the span of literature ranging from classical to contemporary. Each work will be displayed alongside details of the book, poem or quote that inspired it. All work is for sale unless otherwise stated.
    Note to artists: We are filling up fast with entries and, if you would like to submit an application, please drop us an email (info@willowgalleryoswestry.org) as soon as you can.

IMPROETRY COLLECTIVE plus 'OSWARDS' MAGAZINE LAUNCH
Friday 3rd March

   Six-piece band comprising violin, guitar, double bass, percussion, ipad and samples with performance poetry, Improetry interacts with improvisation over original classics from Keats, Yeats and more. The group will also be launching their debut album: we wish them every success and prosperity!
    The same evening, local writing group 'Oswords' will be launching their new magazine that will be available to buy on the evening, with some extracts from the magazine read by the authors.
Start time: 8pm (doors open 7.30pm)
