It is anticipated that the independent review of the options appraisal should be completed by the end of March 2017. As Shropshire and Powys Council will be heading into their pre-election period for their local Council elections it is expected that the formal consultation period will begin in late May/early June. The Programme team is also looking at the structure of the Joint Committee following the Parliamentary debate that took place on 11 January. The CCGs are considering the appointment of an independent voting chair in the decision making process. Funding for the new buildings proposed as part of the plans is also being explored, along with preparations being underway to develop the consultation document, survey, consultation activities and preparing the NHS Future Fit website to have all of the right information needed for the consultation. | | | Putting Patients First Newsletter The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust have released their latest Putting Patients First newsletter. Some important things to consider are: • At the first sign of a cough or cold, get immediate advice from your pharmacist before it gets more serious • Speak to your pharmacist about medicines you should have in stock over winter • Pick up prescription medications before the Christmas holidays start as many GPs and pharmacies will close over the holidays • It is important to keep warm in winter, so heat your home to at least 18°C (65°F), if you can, you might prefer your living room to be slightly warmer • Make sure you get your flu jab • If you need help over the holiday period when your GP surgery or pharmacy is closed, call NHS 111 or visit www.nhs.uk A local Shropshire GP has recently talked about the types of cases her GP practice has been seeing, along with advice on how to manage common winter illness and which services patients should go to to get treatment. You can watch the video here For more information visit www.nhs.uk/staywell The opening times for Shropshire pharmacies can be found here, and for Telford and Wrekin, here. | | | Get involved Your thoughts and experiences are key in helping the NHS Future Fit programme design a service which meets the needs of the local population and delivers the best service possible.
