OF SPECIAL NOTE
Enjoy a wide range of arts and crafts classes
See below our selection of courses and workshops, all led by friendly and experienced arts professionals. Many take place on Saturdays, but we also offer weekend (ie two-day) workshops and a number of four-session courses that usually run over a month. Numbers are limited, so please book early to avoid missing out.
 
EXHIBITIONS
 
July 8 – September 16
SUMMER OPEN
Mixed exhibition open to established artists as well as new and emerging artists, drawing together a wide range of styles, subjects and media.This year the exhibition is split into two shows, with the first running from Saturday July 8 to Saturday August 12.

Oswestry A-Z
Included in Part 1 and of interest to locals and visitors alike are a series of artworks that make up the popular 'A to Z' Alphabet of Oswestry, each the work of a different local artist and depicting a different local scene - your special guide to capturing the essence of Oswestry. This will launch on Saturday July 29 (12.30-2.30pm). 

'A' is for Ardmillan House...

Set atop a hill and visible from much of the town, the house with its distinctive high tower was built by Victorian businessman and town mayor John Thomas.
SUMMER OPEN PART 2
This will run from Saturday  August 19 to Saturday September 16.

Interested in exhibiting at the Willow Gallery?
The Gallery is always interested in seeing new artworks, and we are pleased to invite all artists to submit their work for consideration. Some exhibitions have themes that artists are asked to follow; others are entirely open.

Please contact the Gallery (info@willowgalleryoswestry.org) for further details, guidelines on how to apply and an entry form.
 
Looking for a venue to present your work?
Independently of the main exhibition area, the Gallery provides additional wall-hanging space with adjustable lighting for individual artists to exhibit their work. During July we are pleased to feature the work of local artist Des Jones who works principally with landscape and is also known for his expressive figurative paintings featuring musicians. Please contact us for availability and rates.
 
LIVE EVENTS
When booking tickets for live music and other events, please let us know if you require wheelchair space, or an aisle seat close to the front.

A modern troubadour not to be missed
Gren Bartley, prolific and exceptional songwriter and musician together with his string accompaniment, is creating something truly original on the folk scene.

Phenomenal guitar playing and stunning harmonies with intricate string arrangements for cello and fiddle.

UPCOMING CRAFT FAIRS
There is always a lovely atmosphere at our craft fairs, a great outlet for local craft-makers – and for shoppers a great spot for unusual finds and perfect for buying gifts.

Crafters, if you would like to apply for a stall at our July or October Craft Fair, please contact us on info@willowgalleryoswestry.org. The price for a standard table remains the same at £35, and there is no commission on sales you make. Each day runs from 10am to 5pm (set-up time from 8am). When booking, please ensure that you provide full contact details, including email.
 
Admission free to the public.
 
UPCOMING WORKSHOPS AND COURSES
Led by skilled artist-tutors, workshops/courses are a great opportunity to experiment with a range of art techniques, explore creativity and learn new skills.
 
Unless otherwise stated, workshops are held at the Willow Gallery's Dunbabin Room. Please check our website for full details, including information about what materials you may need to bring, or call into the Gallery.

LEARN TAI CHI AND QIGONG
Accessible for people of all ages and abilities
Instructor: David Bannister
 
David has been practising various forms of Tai Chi and Qigong for four years. He is dedicated to continuing his practice of the art and to sharing his knowledge.
 
Classes are held in five-week blocks and are £6 per session. No special equipment is required: come in loose, comfortable clothing and bring some soft flat shoes to wear. To enquire further, please contact David on 07541 535587 or email banni66@icloud.com.

Ever fancied dancing as though you're in the 1940s? Here's how to get started…

LEARN TO PLAY FOLK MUSIC IN A RELAXED AND FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE
Tunes taught by ear – no need to read music
Tutor : Diana Buckle

You will need your own instrument – fiddle, flute, whistle or mandolin. Classes are held in Shrewsbury and Oswestry. The Improvers' Class requires a basic knowledge of how to play your instrument. The Advanced Class is for players with more experience.

Improvers: 7-9pm on Sept 11, Sept 25 and Oct 9
Advanced: 7-9pm on Sept 18, Oct 2 and Oct 16

ABOUT US 
Centrally-located in Oswestry, the former car showroom is an innovative place where you can seek out and buy original artworks - paintings, sculpture, ceramics, textile art, jewellery, glassware and more. Ever-changing exhibitions throughout the year make regular visits a must. Other events include live music, workshops, talks and craft fairs, while in the Gallery Shop there is always an interesting selection of arts and crafts to browse.

Artists-in-Residence
Visitors to the Gallery will also be able to see the work and work-in-progress of resident artists Karl Robinson-Bray and David Bannister. Both will also work on commission, to create the piece you've always wanted.

Willow Eatery
The on-site family- and wheelchair-friendly Willow Eatery is a popular local rendezvous, serving morning coffee, freshly-prepared light lunches and afternoon tea with a tempting selection of cakes. You can also book a party.

Gift vouchers and other gift ideas
Gift vouchers are available at the Willow. They can be bought for any amount and be redeemed in both the Gallery and the Shop. Booking a place for a friend on one of our artist-run workshops can also make an original and rewarding gift - or treat a music-loving friend or family member to a ticket for one of our live music events.
 
A venue to suit your occasion
At the back of the Gallery, the Dunbabin Room is a multipurpose room that lends itself to an array of events from parties and workshops to talks and business meetings, while its large clear hard floor and high ceiling are perfect for dance and fitness classes.
