Books Aloud
Tuesday 2 & Tuesday 16 October, 2-3pm
Drop in, pull up a chair and listen to great stories and poems for adults read aloud by library staff and volunteers. No booking required.
Learning at Lunchtime: Poetry Live, with Dave Andrews
Thursday, 4 October 2018, 12-1pm (with optional second hour)
Dave Andrews, Reader/Writer in Residence at Oswestry Library, discusses and reads a selection from the popular BBC anthology The Nation's Favourite Poems, a collection based on a national survey conducted by the BBC One programme 'The Bookworm'.
£4 per head. Please book with library staff.
Dungeons & Dragons at the Library
Saturday 6 October 2018, 9.30 for under 16s, 1pm for over 16s.

National Libraries Week 8-12 of October!
We have a special programme of events going on to celebrate National Libraries Week 2018. This year's theme is 'Wellbeing'. We will be welcoming the OSMakes exhibition 'Flowers of Peace and Remembrance' to the library from 8-27 October, showcasing the flowers made by the community throughout the year. In addition, we will be welcoming Artist In Residence, Ticky Lowe, and her flower laboratory! Drop in to see her at work at the library from 11am to 4pm daily throughout Libraries Week.
Elevate! Information workshop
Monday 8 October 3-4pm
Elevate is a new programme of exercise classes, designed specifically for over-65s, and geared toward helping to maintain balance and mobility. This informational talk is NOT a class, but is simply an opportunity to hear about the project, meet the instructors, and find out whether Elevate might be for you.
Free, no booking required, just come along.
Felting Workshop with Ticky Lowe

Join our Artist In Residence for a fabulous felting workshop during National Libraries Week

Learning at Lunchtime: War Memorials of Shropshire with Peter Francis
Thursday 11 October 12:30-1:30
Local author Peter Francis's latest book is 'Sites of Remembrance: the war memorials of Shropshire'. He will be giving an illustrated talk on the county's many fascinating memorials and some of the people listed on them.

Oswestry Makes 'Textile Taster' day
Saturday 13 October 11am-3pm
Drop-in event at the library to have a go at various crafts, including felting, knitting/crochet, willow weaving, embroidery and more.

Tuesday 16 October 2018, 12.30-1.30pm
Are you enraged by 'different to'? Do you find your blood boiling at those who 'boldly go'? Carol Williams identifies some of the most commonly criticized expressions and explores why so many of us get so angry about them. £3 per person – please book with library staff.
Learning at Lunchtime: Finding Joy in Writing with P.J.Roscoe

Words can make you smile or frown, laugh or cry. Finding your own words to help you truly feel. P.J. Roscoe is the award-winning author of 'Echoes', 'Freya's Child', Diary of Margery Blake', 'Between Worlds' and 'Adventures of Faerie Folk'. She is also a voice actor for audio books, counsellor, therapist and chakradance facilitator.
Learning at Lunchtime: An Audience With Joan Shirley-Davies
Thursday 18 October 2018, 12:30-1:30pm
Local author, Joan Shirley-Davies, trod the boards and wrote plays for over twenty years, but her true ambition was to write novels. Frustrated by rejections from publishers, Joan, at the age of sixty five went back to school to learn her craft, and was rewarded with a long awaited publishing deal. Her novel, 'Money Is Easy' is a love story for readers who enjoy an element of mystery and a strong, independent, female protagonist.

Board Games Café
Saturday 27 October 2018, 10-1pm
Have you ever wanted to save the world from a deadly disease? Build a great city & rule a mighty kingdom?Search for treasure in the depths of the jungle? Or travel the roads of ancient Japan? You can in a board game! Join us for gaming, with refreshments sold in support of the Guide Dogs Trust. Meet the dogs too! No booking required, just come along.
Meet the Author! Storytime with Sarah Griffiths
Monday 29 October, 11-12noon
Join Sarah Griffiths, author of 'George and Maude' and 'Douglas's Trousers', for a magical storytelling session at the library, complete with props and colouring! Suitable for ages 3-10, there will be opportunity to buy signed copies of Sarah's books on the day.
Poetry with Punch- a workshop at the library with Matt Windle!
Tuesday 30 October, 10-4pm (bring packed lunch)
Birmingham's Poet Laureate by day and professional boxing champion by night; Matt 'man' Windle delivers his own brand of spoken-word poetry through workshops, performances and boxercise classes to schools and businesses worldwide. Matt's sessions help to provide confidence and creative outlets through written & physical expression. He is known as the 'Poet with Punch.'
Free workshop suitable for ages 10-14. Please book with library staff.
