See your village with LIDAR, light detection mapping

At the History Society meeting on Wednesday a talk by Dr. Andy Wigley on LIDAR - Light detection and ranging, used by archaeologists to provide ground mapping.

This message from Alan Smith forwarded by Mike Reece, Ruyton Local History Society.

It subsequently occured to me that it would be good if the Society followed up the talk by e-mailing all its members the URL so that they could not only examine, at their leisure, the ground mapping of Ruyton but other areas of the country that have been surveyed.

    The URL is:

    https://houseprices.io/lab/lidar/map?ref=SJ39322239

This is the URL of a commercial operator, (hence the 'houseprices' prefix), which had employed the LIDAR map.

The suffex ref. gives the Ruyton map, which is how the web page opens. To find other places one just has to left hand click the mouse, enter the palace name and tap the return key.
By holding down the left mouse button it is possible to move the map to take in other parts of that surveyed area.
