Wilfred Owen Festival, Oswestry

Coming events for the Wilfred Owen Festival in Oswestry.

The Launch of the Wilfred Owen Festival in Oswestry will be at the Wynnstay Arms, Oswestry on Friday 19th.  Probably too late to get a ticket now.  There will be poetrey, music and entertainment featuring the Wilfred Owen Violin carved from an old sycamore tree in the grounds of Craiglockhart hospital where Wilfred Owen  spent time recovering from shellshock in 1917.

Wilfred Owen statue will be unveiled in Cae Glas Park, Oswestry on Saturday 20 October.  The work of localartist, Tim Turner.  Wilfred Owen violin will be played, andhis poetry through music and verse.  Words from his letters and poems and 5 new poems from local school children will feature on the statue.

WWI Film Festival `Journey`s End` at Trefonen Village Hall 7pm on Saturday 20th October.  Set in a dugout in Aisne in 1918, it is thestory of a group of British officers, led byu the mentally disintegrating young officer, Stanhope as they await their fate.  Book tickets from Val on 01691 657 011
