www.eleventowns.uk/hitory.html

I have just added another article to the Ruyton history website.

Again it is about the First World War but on a rather lighter subject than we have seen recently.

The story of Bruce Bairnsfather is not known to many people today but during the actual war, his name was on everyone`s lips both in Britain and in the trenches.

Even those darkest of times, the poor devils surrounded by death and distruction, were able to laugh at Bruce Bairnsfather`s cartoons - after all, he had been there and knew exactly what he was finding to laugh about.

Bruce Bairnsfather was described by General Sir Ian Hamilton as

"THE MAN WHO WON THE WAR"

Because I really want everyone to read this story, I have attached it here as a pdf

as well as on www.eleventowns.uk/hitory.html
