HAVE YOU SERVED IN THE FORCES, OR ARE YOU SERVING NOW?
At 6.50pm on 11th November we will be remembering the Men of Ruyton who fell in the First World War. Our village will be commemorating the end of that dreadful conflict by lighting a great Beacon on the Brownhill Fields above the War Memorial and Rock House.
There will be short ceremony, starting at 6.50pm with a prayer, a poem by Wilfred Owen, The Last Post played by a local young person and a medley of songs.
Anyone living in the area who has served, or is serving in the forces is particularly welcome to come to this event wearing their caps and medals.

"It was generally accepted soon after the Great War that widows of the fallen wore their late husband's medals on the right breast on suitable occasions.
The medals awarded to a deceased Service/ex-Service person may be worn on the right breast by a near relative (mother, father, sister, brother, wife, husband, daughter and son)."
