Friday 12th April 7.30 pm. Methodist Church Hall,Entrance on Castle Street

'The March of Archery'

Advolly Richmond Welsh Historic Gardens trustee and a member of the Shropshire Parks and Garden's Trust

Garden and Social History researcher Ms. Richmond will take a light-hearted look at archery as an elitist sport in the late 18th and throughout the 19th century. At that time, only the very wealthy could afford to take part in exclusive bow meetings which took place on the estates of the aristocracy, with up to 200 guests and shooters sitting down to have lunch in between rounds.
