Thanks to the generosity of garden owners, volunteers and visitors, the National Garden Scheme has donated £58 million to charity since 1927.
Originally set up to support district nurses, the National Garden Scheme is now the largest single funder of nursing and caring charities in the UK. We also support charities doing amazing work in gardens and health, grant bursaries to help community gardening projects and support gardeners at the start of their career.
In 2019, we donated £3 million from funds raised at our gardens – almost double the £1.6 million donated ten years ago – and a huge 80p in every £1 goes straight to our beneficiaries. Read about the charities we support below, and find out more about our bursaries and apprenticeships and how to make an application.

There is such a variety of features in this 2 acre garden that we call it the smallest stately home garden in the world! If you have not been to the garden recently you will find there have been many changes in the last three years. Some beds have been completely re planned and re planted and last winter, due to the gardeners getting older, we have created several new seats where you can sit and enjoy the wonderful view across the Perry valley with tea and cake!
